Custom menu

Menu to lewa nawigacja systemu. Pokazuje obszary pracy firmy w kolejności i pod nazwami, które ustalił administrator, a nie sztywną listę wbudowanych ekranów.

What the menu is for

The menu is a list of entries into everything you work on: lists, documents, reports, and summary screens. In Opero it is not a fixed part of the program. The organization's administrator builds it, so the names of the entries and their order match how the company works, not how the mechanisms in the system are named.

In practice this means the menu at your company may look completely different from another Opero client's. This is normal and intended.

Contents of the menu

Menu entries lead to several kinds of places.

The entry leads toWhat you see after clicking
An object's lista list of records of a single object, for example contracts, tickets, or clients
A built-in modulea ready area of the system: contractors, sales invoices, cost invoices, service catalog, reports
A reporta summary with a chart or a table, prepared for the company
A custom pagea summary screen built by the administrator, for example a department dashboard
An external addressa page outside Opero, for example an intranet or a manual

Entries can be grouped into folders. A folder itself opens no screen; it only expands the list of entries inside it. Folders can be nested, but no deeper than three levels, so the menu never turns into a bottomless tree.

Example. At a construction company the menu has a Sales folder with the entries Inquiries, Offers, and Contracts, a Delivery folder with the entries Projects and Handover reports, and a Finance folder with sales and cost invoices. An employee in the offer department uses one folder all day and does not see the screens that do not concern them.

Clicking an entry opens its screen. Clicking a folder expands and collapses its contents. One entry in the menu can be marked as the start screen: it appears right after signing in.

The menu shows labels in the language you have set in your profile. If the administrator described an entry in Polish and in English, you will see the version matching your setting. If they gave only one name, it will be visible regardless of the language.

Reasons for differences in the menu

There are three reasons, and all of them are intended.

  • Permissions. An entry leading to data you do not have access to makes no sense for the user, so you will not see it.
  • Company. In organizations running several companies, some areas are shared with only selected ones. After switching the company, the menu may therefore look different.
  • Role. An organization may have more than one menu and direct different menus to different audiences, for example a separate one for the management and a separate one for the warehouse.

Limitations of the menu

The menu grants no permissions and takes away no access. It is only a list of entries. Hiding an entry does not secure data, and showing it will not open a screen you have no right to. Access is governed by roles and permissions, described separately.

Gaps in the menu and how to report them

If you use a screen daily that you reach by a roundabout route, report it to the instance administrator. Adding an entry to the menu, changing its name, or moving it to a different folder is a configuration change of a few minutes, without a system update.
